Hyundai (like Syunday) has embarked on a mission to make an affordable RWD sports coupe that will rival all its competitors on performance, handling, and price.

Debuting at last year’s New York International Auto Show, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe has since captured the attention of enthusiasts and car modders looking for a decent car to tinker with and thrash, respectively, without dropping BMW-like amounts of currency.

Hyundai looks to satisfy both with its 2.0-liter I4 turbo and 3.8-liter V6. Expect a few package configurations, like the track pack for both engines that includes track-tuned suspension, the Brembo braking system, and a host of other options. Also keep an eye out for the R-spec coming out later in the model year.

AutoKinesis had the chance to take a couple of the coupes out to Mt. Kisco, NY for a spin through some scenic country roads. Check out the full story at VM’s sister (brother?) blog to see how it shapes up.
